William J. Wonnell Age 86. Passed away Thursday, September 4, 2014 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Born in Joliet and a lifetime area resident. A WWII and Korean War Army Veteran. Retired from DeSoto Chemical Company after several years of service. Survived by his wife of 58 years, Janet (nee Troha) Wonnell of Crest Hill; three sisters, Lorraine (late Olin) Robinette, Marilyn (late Charles) Thomas and Jean (late Nelson) Gardner all of Joliet; brothers-in-law, James and Joseph Troha; sister-in-law, Carol Troha; numerous nieces and nephews and very special friend, Fred Milantoni also survive. Preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Alma (nee Woldt) Wonnell; three brothers, Robert, Edwin and Norman Wonnell; and two sisters, Elsie and Dolores Wonnell. As it was William’s wish, cremation rites have been accorded and his final earthly remains have been interred in the Columbarium at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Dylan Joseph Staab Age 3 months, of Shorewood, IL passed away Monday, September 8, 2014 at home with his parents and brother by his side. He was born June 6, 2014 to his loving parents, Kristina (nee D’Amico) and Brad Staab. He was also anxiously greeted by his big brother Owen. A beloved grandson of Tina (nee Marshall) and Joseph D’Amico and Jan (nee Fitzgerald) and Tom Staab. Precious nephew of Nick, Jennifer, Jeremy and Carissa D’Amico, Corie Staab and Kendall (Jason) Stipp. Dearest cousin of Gavin D’Amico, Ava, Ellery, and Harrison Stipp. In addition to his devoted family, he will also be missed by many close family friends. Skip Denim-Blue Trautman Age 27 passed suddenly Monday September 08, 2014. He was born February 12, 1987 in streator Illinois. He was a lifelong resident of Joliet, IL. and had recently moved to Danville, il. Preceeded in death by his father Theodore “Skip” Trautman, Grandparents; Joyce and James “Jim” Turner, Jesse Roman and one niece; Samantha Jo Anderson. He is survived by his mother Gloria J Drake of Norris City, IL., four sisters; Victoria Ridenour of Pontiac, Gena (Steven) Roman-Acree of Danville, Laura Trautman (Cody Carpenter) of Danville, and Cecelia (Kameron) Pearce of McLeansboro, Il. Robert O. Sikyta Age 75, of Romeoville, passed away suddenly, Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center Emergency Room. Born January 30, 1939 in Stickney, IL, he was the son of Robert and Lillian Violet (nee Kouba) Sikyta. He was a veteran of the United States Army and the Army Reserve. Bob worked as Credit Manager for Bornquist, Inc., Chicago, for over 25 years. He was active in the Grand Haven Retirement Community and its many activities including the Theatre Company. He was especially proud of his work with the Disabled Veterans Golf Outing. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s many activities, golfing, bowling, and following the Chicago Cubs. Larry proudly served in the United States Army, and was a Korean War Veteran. He was a retired foreman at Amoco Chemicals with 30+ years of service. Larry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He enjoyed gardening, classic country music, and spending time with family and friends. Survived by his son, Clint Carter; daughter, Brenda Freeman; grandson, William Carter Freeman; and sister, Margaret Clearwaters. Edward Martin Kozubek Age 88, formerly of Joliet, and a resident of the Mantono Veterans Home in Manteno since 1989, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2014 at the Home. Born July 22, 1926 in Joliet, he was the son of Martin and Mary (nee Sowa) Kozubek. Edward was a veteran of the United States Army serving with Company “B” of the 7th Infantry, Third Army, serving in Northern France during World War II. LeEtta Marie Carter (nee Davy) Age 84, late of Morris, and formerly of Joliet, Lake Placid, FL and Kankakee, passed away Friday, September 12, 2014 at Morris Hospital. Born December 7, 1929 in Joliet, she was the daughter of Royal E. and Marie (nee Farley) Davy. She worked for a few years as a long distance telephone operator before becoming a homemaker and raising her family, and later was Activity Director for the former Imperial Nursing Home in Joliet. LeEtta was a former 50 year member of the First Lutheran Church of Joliet, Job’s Daughters and Will County Home Extension. She enjoyed reading and crafts, cooking, music, and was a collector of cookbooks. She was also an accomplished pianist and accompanist. She and her husband also volunteered as the Christian Clowns “Hollee” and “CeeMor” while living in Florida. Surviving are her children, James (Jean Ann) Carter of Morris, Kathleen (Mark) Paydon of Plainfield, Beverlee (David) Bergevin of Hixson, TN, and Terry Carter of Ashkum; eight grandchildren, Marie “Beth” (Sandee) Paydon, Emilee (Ivan Perez) Paydon, Tyler Paydon, Adam (Danielle) Carter, Sarah (Joe) Kampe, Angela (Andy) Gonzalez, Samantha Carter, and Melissa (Michael) Miesner; three great-grandchildren, Carter Dean Perez, Devin Kampe and Lorenzo Gonzalez; two sisters, Beverly (late Raymond) Egly of Joliet, and Marie E. Joseph was a member of the Coal City Area Club and enjoyed spending his time there fishing and camping with his family and friends. He was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed following the Chicago Bears and the Chicago Blackhawks. His grandchildren were the light of his life and he loved spending every moment with them. Joseph was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother who will be dearly missed. She was born April 19, 1943 to the late Ruth Ann (nee Willard) and Robert Emerick, Sr. Survived by three daughters, Donna (Rafael) Cole, Dawn (Allen) Casey and Tracey Cain; one son, Michael (Michelle) Cain-Rivera; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Janet) Emerick, Jr; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Sister Anne Flaska, O.S.F. Sister M. Consuela Sister Anne Flaska, OSF (1919 – 2014) died at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home, Joliet, Illinois, on September 14. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Mary (Turcan) and John Flaska. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Rev. Joseph Flaska, SVD, and Frank and sisters Mildred Tylka, Rose Irene and Sister M. Cyrinus, OSF (Joliet Franciscan). She is survived by her nieces and nephews. Sister Anne was a treasured member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Mary Immaculate (Joliet) for 77 years. Sister Anne attended Sacred Heart Grade School (Oakley and Huron Streets) in Chicago, Illinois, and McKinley Public School. She received both a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a certificate in Theology from the College of St. Francis, now University of St. Francis, Joliet, Illinois. She completed further studies at Loyola University (Chicago) and Mount Mary College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Sister Anne taught in the primary grades for forty-nine years in various schools throughout Ohio, Illinois and Pennsylvania. From 1969 to 1989 she taught first grade at Robert Fulton Public School and was appointed “Head Teacher” of the first and second graders. Because of her expertise in the Slovak language, she was able to translate English pre-school religion lessons into Slovak at Assumption Parish in Chicago and taught the Slovak language and culture to young children in Chicago. Her educational background and experience in the primary grades enabled her to assist other teachers through demonstrations of teaching techniques in reading, phonics and religion. From 1974 until 1998 Sister Anne ministered at Resurrection Parish (formerly St. Francis Xavier Church) in Chicago. In 1998 she became the Director of the Reading and Math Center at St. Francis Convent in Joliet. In 2003 she moved to Our Lady of Angels where she ministered as Sacristan. The wake for Sister Anne will take place at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Joliet, IL, (Wyoming and Rt. 30) on Friday, September 19, from 2:00 – 6:45 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 4:45 p.m. and Mass of Christian Burial at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Procession will leave from Our Lady of Angels on Saturday, September 20, at 9:00 a.m. The Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville, Illinois.

Kenneth Franklin Gawron Age 74, of Plainfield, died September 12, 2014 at home in the comfort of his family. Born November 30, 1939 in Chicago, IL, son of Michael and Eleanor Gawron. He married Joanne (nee Janiszewski) on February 2, 1963 at St. Joseph Church in Round Lake, IL. His wife, Joanne, along with family, were by his side at the time of his passing. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1963. He retired from Crane Packing Co. after 42 years of service. His door was always open to those in need. He volunteered with food pantries, women’s shelters and various social groups. He and Joanne were foster parents through Catholic Charities. He also pursued various leisure activities throughout his life including golfing with fellow parishioners from Holy Family, bowling on a league and even camping with his sons when they were Boy Scouts. In addition to his wife, JoAnne, he is survived by two sons, Stephen (Peggy) and Gregory (Leslie) Gawron, all of Plainfield; six grandchildren, Jacob Gawron of Plainfield, Ian Gawron of Iowa City, IA, Sophie Gawron of Burlington, IA, Alexa McNish of Johnsburg, IL and Anna and Ava Gawron, both of Plainfield; one brother, Bill (Bernadine) Gawron of Wildwood, IL; two sisters, Karen (Charles) May of Peoria and Diane (James, II) Harper of McHenry, IL; one sister-in-law, Judy (Dr. Leo) Wrona of Shorewood, IL; one brother-in-law, John (Margaret) Janiszewski of Wauconda, IL; 19 nieces and nephews; and 35 grandnieces and nephews. She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church and the church Seniors Club. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. Survived by two sons, William J. Todd of Plainfield and James Lee Todd of New Lenox; one granddaughter, Candace Lee (James B.) Moore of North Aurora; and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Todd (1987); her parents, Joseph and Louise (nee Freese) Surges; two brothers, Raymond and Lawrence Surges; and two sisters, Edna Horn and Helen Nemanich. Funeral Services for Gertrude V. Todd will be Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rd., Joliet to St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, Plainfield for Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Richard E. Stancik Of Morris, died peacefully, Wednesday, September 17, 2014 in the comfort of his home, one day shy of his 79th birthday, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Chicago to the late Mary (nee Spudwell) and Edward Stancik, he was raised in Chicago, a graduate of St. Rita High School where he played football. Beloved husband of 54 years to Barbara (nee Long) Stancik of Morris; Loving father of James (the late Beverly) Stancik of Frankfort, Caryn Stancik of Darien, Herb (Susan) Stancik of Oak Forest, Mary Ann (the late Jerrold) Adams of Hoopeston, IL, Nancy (Larry) Burgan of Donovan, IL and Lynn Stancik of Joliet. Devoted grandfather of Kristie Stancik, Jamie Stancik; Chelsy Gleixner; Cali Stancik; Angela Cooper and Tom Adams. Proud great-grandpa of John, Desire, Alice and Jace. Dear brother of the late Ronald (Winnie) Stancik, formerly of Oak Lawn. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Rich was the proprietor of several establishments including the Satellite Lounge and the Porterhouse Restaurant, in Bridgeview, as well as Maggie Mays in Orland Park. He was a huge Notre Dame Football fan, but his passion was spending time with his family. A proud Lithuanian, he was a member of Immaculate Conception Church since he and Barbara moved to Morris 19 years ago, and a former member of St. Louis DeMontfort Parish in Oak Lawn, IL where he resided for many years. A memorial visitation will be held Monday September 22, 2014 from 4-9 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. Route 6 at Deerpath Dr. in Morris. Funeral services will begin Tuesday morning with prayers at 9:45 a.m. at the funeral home to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morris, where a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be private at St .
