Marilyn E. Beavers (nee Briddick) – Passed away peacefully with her family by her side after a long battle with cancer, Thursday, August 28, 2014. Age 58. Survived by her loving husband of 31 years Jim Beavers; three children Ashley (Jonathan Bulger), Jeremy and Justin Beavers; a brother Mark Briddick; her mother-in-law Norma Beavers; sisters-in-law Jane (Phil) Johns and Jill Beavers; brother-in-law Jeff (Nina) Beavers; her nieces and nephews Jennifer Briddick, Amy (Nick) Cumbo, Tim (Monica) Johns, Rachel (Ty Goodman) Johns, Deirdre (Mark) Anderson and Jacob Beavers. Several great nieces and great nephews also survive. Preceded in death by her parents Earl “Red” and Lois Briddick, her sister Peg Bryan and her father-in-law J.D. Beavers. Member of United Methodist Church of New Lenox, and recently employed with Arbor Management at Lockport East High School. Marilyn loved her nightly phone calls with friends and family, gardening, and swimming in her pool. She also enjoyed ceramics and collected Precious Moments Figurines. She was an avid supporter of breast cancer research: including Pink Heals, Avon Walk for Breast Cancer and the American Cancer Society. Josephine M. Gregorash (nee Podobnik), age 92, at rest on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Presence Villa Franciscan Nursing Home. Born in Joliet on March 18, 1922 to the late Jacob and Katherine (nee Kufner) Podobnik, she remained a lifelong Joliet resident. Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years, John “Yack” Gregorash; brothers, Robert, Anthony and Rudolph Podobnik; sisters, Mary Podobnik, Catherine (George) Turk, Frances (Frank) Legan, and Pauline (Nick) Chorak. Survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Joleen (William) Morrow; one sister, Dorothy (the late Don) Hiller; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Josephine was a graduate of Joliet Township High School and worked for a number of years at the American Can Company in Rockdale. She enjoyed her career there and retired when she started a family. She often spoke and shared stories about the great times she had while working and the wonderful friendships she made during her years there. Josephine was an excellent baker and was often asked to make her special potica for holidays and other family events. She was a lover of music, particularly live music, which in later years brought her great joy. Josephine was a lifelong parishioner at St. Mary Nativity Church in Joliet where she was active in the Mother’s Club. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Cantigny Post #367. A celebration of Josephine’s life will begin on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet with a visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of service to be held in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Mary Nativity Cemetery in Crest Hill.

Dawn K. Parrilli (nee Demetral) Age 57. At rest Sunday, August 31, 2014 at her late residence following a second courageous battle with cancer. Born in Evergreen Park to George and the late Shirley Demetral, residing in Joliet the past 18 years. Graduate of Carl Sandberg High School, Class of 1975 and received her Associates Degree from Morraine Valley Community College. Retired from AT&T in 2011. Dawn loved gardening and especially taking care of her yard. She took great pride in being a homemaker and although she had no children of her own, she thoroughly enjoyed being a surrogate mother to her nieces and nephews. Survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Andy “Butch” Parrilli of Joliet; her father, George of Ft. Michael A. Papesh, age 50, at rest on Monday, September 1, 2014. Michael is survived by his wife, Molly (nee Durham); children, Jack and Michelle Papesh; mother, Mary Papesh; two brothers, David (Amy) of St. Augustine, Florida and Brian (Debbie) Papesh of Joliet, IL; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Robert Wise
Robert D. Wise Age 89. At rest Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center. Born in Lockport on January 19, 1925, he was a lifelong Joliet resident. A United States WWII Army Veteran, serving in the European African and Middle Eastern Theatres. He served with the Third Army under General Patton in the Field Artillery 284th Battalion in Germany and France. Recipient of the Purple Heart and the Presidential Citation. After the war, he was reassigned to Military MP’s in Brandenburg, Germany. He attended Joliet Township High School. Bob was employed in the security/safety department for 30 years at Caterpillar in Aurora, retiring July 1, 1987. He was an avid Cubs fan. Preceded in death by his wife, Helen L. (Robinson) (nee Stephens) Wise (1999); his parents, Thomas H. and Marjorie L. (nee Landon) Wise; and one stepdaughter, Dianna Clausen. Survived by his wife, Evelyn A. Roland H. Millington “Mick” Age 67. Monday, September 1, 2014 at Edward Hospital in Naperville. Born in Gary, Indiana and a Joliet area resident for the past 15 years. A graduate of Indiana University with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting and a graduate of Emerson High School, Gary, Indiana, Class of 1964. A U.S Air Force Viet Nam Veteran. A member of Cantigny Post VFW #367, where he served as a Quartermaster for the past two years. He was a devoted volunteer at Cantigny Post, who worked tirelessly for many Cantigny functions, especially the pancake breakfasts. Mick also assisted in facilitating memberships and could always be found on six corners on Poppy Day. He was a foster parent to “Little People in Fur Coats” for West Suburban Humane Society in Downers Grove, Illinois for over 25 years. Preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Agnes Millington; and his special and loving Aunt Marian Marasco with whom he shared his birthday. Survived by his loving and devoted wife of 37 years, Janice A. Millington of Joliet ; two sons, Roland M. (Cari) and Rodney W. Mary Hill (nee St. Clair), age 69, passed away suddenly at her home on Thursday, September 4, 2014. Mary is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Thomas Hill; her son, Michael (Leti) Hill; grandchildren, Anthony and Micaela Hill; and one brother, William (Judy) St. Clair. Preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Mary (nee Monticello) St. Clair; one daughter, Ilissa Hill; one sister, Beverly St. Clair; and two brothers-in-law, Walter and Charles Hill. Mary retired from Argonne National Laboratory after 28 years of service as the Telephone Supervisor for the entire laboratory. Mary loved to travel with her husband Thomas, exploring Alaska, Mexico, the Cayman Islands, and the rest of the United States. Mary loved animals; her favorites were dolphins and ducks. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she enjoyed spending as much time as possible with them. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. (nee Miles) – Passed away peacefully with her family by her side, Thursday, September 4, 2013. Born in 1956 in Marks, MS, Hollis was raised in Los Angeles, CA before settling in Illinois. She was a tremendously gifted cosmetologist who excelled at helping other see the beauty in themselves. Her energy for life and passion for helping others was felt by all who had the pleasure of spending even a moment with her. She was a friend to the friendless, provider of home for the homeless and inspired those who felt they had lost hope. She never let the difficulties and tribulations of her life affect the size of her heart and she freely gave her love to all who needed it. Preceded in death by her mother Helen DeCamp, step-father Lewis DeCamp and a brother Steven Piper. Larry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He enjoyed gardening, classic country music, and spending time with family and friends. Edward Martin Kozubek Age 88, formerly of Joliet, and a resident of the Mantono Veterans Home in Manteno since 1989, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2014 at the Home. Born July 22, 1926 in Joliet, he was the son of Martin and Mary (nee Sowa) Kozubek. Edward was a veteran of the United States Army serving with Company “B” of the 7th Infantry, Third Army, serving in Northern France during World War II. Ed worked as a groundskeeper for the Joliet Park District for many years. He was a avid cubs fan who enjoyed listening to the cubs games and playing Bingo. Graveside services for Edward M. Robert S. McLean, Sr. Age 57, of Joliet, passed away suddenly, Saturday, September 6, 2014 at home. Bob worked as a machinist, most recently for The Filtration Group, and previously for Ball Glass. He was a lifelong member of the Belmont and Ingalls Park Athletic Clubs in Joliet. He will be remembered as a hard worker who put his family first above all else. He was also like a father to James (Catherine) McKenna of Oceanside, CA, and Carol (Fred) Lester of Harrisburg, AR.
