William Caldwell

William J. Caldwell “Bill” Early in the morning of July 16, 2014, Chief Petty Officer William J. Caldwell, USN (Ret.) loosed his moorings and set sail on his eternal voyage. He was 86. Born in Philadelphia, PA, his family situation encouraged him to lie about his age and join the Navy at 16. For the remainder of his life, whether on the high seas or the low roads he relished wayfaring making many friends along the way. Affable and welcomed everywhere, Bill was a magnet for stray dogs, treated like royalty by casinos and always agreeable to a stiff cocktail during an ardent game of eight ball. Bill was a U.S. Navy WWII, Korean War and Vietnam War Veteran with over 22 years of service, later retiring to Illinois where he was a longtime Stillwell, Seneca and Kinsman area resident. He enjoyed a 23 year civilian career with Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Ins. Co, the highlight being asked to open their Singapore field office. Mr. Caldwell was preceded by his parents, Benjamin and Elizabeth (nee Creighton) Caldwell; one son, Dani R. Caldwell (2011); his first wife, Irene (nee Frey) Caldwell; three brothers, Ben, George and Hank Caldwell;and two sisters, Mary and Betty Caldwell. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Margaret M. (nee Bakken) Caldwell of Kinsman; two sons, James “Bill” (Miki) of White Salmon, WA and Gary L. (Gina) Caldwell of Sarasota, FL; one daughter, Candice Woods of Springfield, IL; four grandchildren, Melissa, Melinda, Kyle and Mariah; three great-grandchildren, Sarah, Joshua and Austin; two step-daughters, Lois “Tami” Cowan of Ottawa, IL and Peggy (Karl) Gelinas of Smithville, MO; one step-son, Jim (Marla) Smith of Seneca; three step-grandchildren, Steven, Elaina and Robert; one sister, Nancy Wyatt of Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral Services for William J. Caldwell will be held Monday, July 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. Route 6 at Deerpath Dr., Morris . Rev. Jim McGuire officiating. Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery, Seneca, IL with full Military Honors conducted under the auspices of the United States Navy. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Kinsman Verona Ambulance, P. O. Robert Ancel “Bob” Age 63 of Minooka, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2014 at home with his loving family by his side. Born May 12, 1951 in Joliet, he was the son of Anthony and Beatrice (nee Smolich) Ancel. A graduate of Joliet Township Central High School, Class of 1969. Proud member of Teamsters Local #179 and a truck driver for Werden Buck Company in Joliet, retiring in 2005. Bob was involved with racing all his life, starting with go carts and later drag racing. He enjoyed building race cars and will be remembered for his beautiful custom painting of cars and auto restoration. For the Ancels, racing was a family sport, with Route 66 Raceway and Byron Dragway being like a home away from home from April to October. Survived by his wife of 42 years, Lorna “Sue” (nee Zweig) Ancel of Minooka; one son, Dave (Gina) Ancel of Morris; two granddaughters, Darcy and Jordan; one sister, Lynnette (Larry) Johnson of Minooka; their daughter, Michelle Johnson; his wife’s mother, Doris (late Kermit) Zweig of Minooka; one sister-in-law, Laura Johnson; and her son, Steven Johnson. Preceded by two twin sons, Brian (1976) and Gregory (1998); and his parents. Funeral Services for Bob Ancel will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Fred C. Karen L. Bauer (nee Burkhalter) Age 48. Passed away Friday, July 18, 2014 at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, IL. She was born October 5, 1965 in Kenosha, WI to the late Ellen (nee Ashmoore) and Lawrence Burkhalter. Karen had resided in the Plainfield/Joliet area the past 18 years. Beloved wife of James Bauer; loving mother of Anthony Bauer; dearest daughter of Lawrence (the late Ellen) Burkhalter; granddaughter of Hubert Ashmoore; fond sister of Aaron (Betty) Burkhalter; dear aunt of eight; also surviving are many aunts, uncles and cousins. Preceded in death by her mother. Karen was an excellent homemaker who loved baking, cooking, her pugs and Steven King novels. Christine T. Conway (nee Quinn) Age 75, of Morris and formerly Bolingbrook, IL, passed suddenly at home, Thursday, July 17, 2014. She was born April 6, 1939 to the late Winifred (nee Touhy) and Patrick Quinn in Ireland, where she was raised and educated. At the age of 19, Christine moved to the United States, settling in the Chicagoland area, primarily residing in Bolingbrook for nearly 34 years. Beloved wife of almost 53 years to Timothy Conway; loving mother of Nancy Kurt, Patrick (Vena) Conway, Tim Conway and Christine T. Conway (Patrick) Kenney; proud and devoted grandmother of Ryan Kurt; Brittany and Katie Conway; Tim, Melissa and Bobby Conway; Addison and Maura Kenney; dear sister of Mary (John) Sharkey, Una O’Donnell, Timothy (Kathleen) Quinn, Dennis (Mary) Quinn and Nancy (James) Gennery; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Christine retired from Pepperidge Farms Foods as a Production Supervisor after many years of faithful service. She was a devout catholic who always put family first. She will be sorely missed. A graduate with the Class of 2009 from Plainfield Central High School. He also attended Joliet Junior College and Moraine Valley Community College. Beloved son of Rene (Charles) Russell and Randy (Kathleen) Albrecht; loving brother of Sara (Tyler) Kent, Jessica Hoey (Gary Scott), Holly Albrecht (Beth Hall) and Xander Russell; cherished grandson of Amelia Bennett, Larry and Alice Doyle and Barbara Russell; Randy was also loved by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Seventeen grandchildren Zachary, Abigail and Noelle Klima, Robert Riley, Erika and Donovan Jackson, Emile Wisdom, Christopher and Jacob Klima, Dazavior Gamble, Jonah, Caleb, Micah and Joel Klima, Paige, Edward and Jeremy Visnevac. His brother Wayne A. (Vicki) Klima. Preceded in death by his parents George and Mildred Klima, grandparents Andrew and Mary Klima, George and Anna Mateer. His in-laws Roland and Audrey Jacobs. A nephew Mark McKay. George was born in Streator, IL. on December 331, 1942. He married Nadine Jacobs on November 27, 1965. He attended Concordia Theological Seminary in Springfield, IL. and was ordained on June 8, 1969. George served Trinity Lutheran Church in Carver, MN. and Zion Lutheran Church in Chamberlain, SD. prior to becoming pastor of Hope Lutheran Church in Shorewood in 1981. He serves as chaplain for the Shorewood Police and Troy Fire Departments. Member of the Board of Directors of the Will-Grundy Medical Center and Joliet Breakfast Lions Club. Former chaplain at Statesville Correctional Center, Joliet Correctional Center. George was a hospital chaplain at St. Joseph Medical Center for 20 years. Kendall M. Forth Age 16, of Minooka, IL, passed away Monday, July 21, 2014 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Born October 31, 1997 in Ottawa, IL, she had resided in Minooka for several years having just finished her Sophomore year at Premier Academy. Survived by her parents, Kathe (John) Brozman and Jay (Sarah) Forth; her siblings, whom she absolutely loved and cherished, Cassandra, Payton, Jack and Bella; dearest niece, Marlee. Loving granddaughter of Debbie and Dean Gifford, Keith and Frieda Abbott, Brenda Canfield and the late Jack Forth, Sr., Larry and LaRieu Ried, Patricia (the late Eugene) Brozman and Brad Canfield. Loved great granddaughter of Viola (the late Burl) Abbott and Nerine (the late Raymond) Gifford. Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends also survive. Kendall, an outgoing soul, who could be described as fiery and vibrant, treated everyone with respect. You also knew where you stood; she wouldn’t waiver from what she believed in, yet always treated everyone the same…she was, and will always be, real…forever in our hearts. Kids always seemed to gravitate to Kendall, she had a soft spot and alot of energy for youngsters who seemed to always seek her attention of which she so freely gave. A talented sketch artist, she also was very meticulous and extremely talented in make-up application, aspiring to continue her education in Cosmetology after High School. Although our lives will be forever changed without her, we find strength in how the depth her being, albeit only 16 years, has profoundly affected us. Bernice M. Carter (nee Jakovich), age 98, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 22, 2014. Bernice is survived by her loving son, Walter (Maria) Carter; grandchildren, Amanda (Mathew) Anderson and Jessica Carter; great-grandchildren, Emma and Carter Anderson; one sister, Agnes (the late Fred) Horvat; two sisters-in-law, Vida (the late Raymond) and Mary (the later Robert) Jakovich. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Preceded in death by her husband, Walter A. Carter; parents, John and Mary (nee Musich) Jakovich; one sister, Marie Jakovich; five brothers, Jerome (Marian), John (Alice), Raymond, Robert Jakovich and Joseph in infancy. Bernice was a lifelong resident of Joliet and was a faithful parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet. She was a member of the St. Joseph Altar and Rosary Society, St. Joseph Medical Mission and Will County Senior Citizens. Bernice was a beautician for all of her life working at Goldblatt’s in Joliet and continuing to practice out of her home. Bernice will be dearly missed by all who knew her. A celebration of Bernice’s life will begin on Saturday, July 26, 2014 with a visitation at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 11:00 a.m. Entombment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville.

Born in Morton’s Gap, KY to the late Hubert and Jewel (nee Whitfield) Teague. Residing in the Joliet/Crest Hill area most of his life. Retired from Laborer’s Union Local #75. Former owner/operator of Eastside Inn of Joliet and Teague’s Tap of Joliet. David was an automobile enthusiast. He loved to tinker and was never seen driving a dirty car. Known as “Mr. Fix-It” alongside his lifelong friend, Frank Stiglich. Survived are his loving wife of 57 years, JoAnn (nee Alberico) Teague of Crest Hill; three daughters, DeAnn Teague of Crest Hill, Judy (Russell) Fisher of Homer Glen and Brenda (Mike White) Donahue of Plainfield; nine grandchildren, Erica (Zach) Markiewicz, Adam Fisher, Libby (Jon Zaragoza) Fisher, Caitlin (Rob Gavert) Donahue, Jacob (Mae Starek) Donahue, Andrew Fisher, Rikki (Lucas Rivera) Donahue, Aaron Fisher and Gage White; eight great-grandchildren and one on the way; brother-in-law of Eleanor Teague and Jack Rosenthal; and numerous nieces and nephews. Survived by her six children Debra Johnson, Lori (Tim) Nealey, Ronald (Barbara) Bernier, Steven Bernier, Sean (Melinda) Rolando and Erika (Mike Schmuldt) Rolando; nine grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and step-great-Grandchildren. A brother David Fudge and a sister Sheila Perfect; several nieces and nephews in England also survive. Preceded in death by a daughter Carol Coon, her parents Ronald and Lillian Fudge, a sister Pamela Rose Fudge and a brother-in-law Peter Perfect. Born in Beaconsfield, England, coming to America in 1955. She worked in the hospitality business for many years, including Colonial Steakhouse, Sheridan Hotel in downtown Joliet and Syl’s Restaurant and Lounge, where she made many friends and created many long lasting relationships. Barbara had a very pleasant, friendly disposition. She was always the one who comforted those in need. She will be truly missed all who knew her. Survived by his two children Waldo (Donna) Pirok Jr. and Gloria Dukes, four step-children Jerry (June) Lorenc, Eugene (Norma) Lorenc, Genevieve (Peter) Tritschler and Barbara (Mike) Quinn; 20 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. A special niece Christine Evans, several nieces and nephews also survive. Preceded in death by his wife Kathleen (nee Orasco) Pirok (2012), his parents Joseph and Magdalen Pirok, a step-son James Lorenc, two brothers Frank (Olivia) Pirok and Bernard (Theresa – deceased) Pirok. Veteran of the US Navy, serving during WWII with the Naval Amphibious Force in the Pacific. Member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rockdale and St. Michael Catholic Church in Staunton, IL. Lifetime member of the Staunton VFW Post 1214, board member for the Village of Rockdale, member of the Holy Name Society and served as an Election Judge. Survived by two sons, Daniel R. (Debbie) Altiery of Braidwood and Eugene B. (Sandra) Altiery of Braidwood; one daughter, Ellen K. (Gene) Thompson of Brunswick, GA; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one sister, Rose Slimak of Joliet; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral Services for Frances J. Altiery will be Monday, July 28, 2014 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment private at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Catherine A. Merzlock (Klenovich-Kapelle) Age 92. Born February 2, 1922, passed peacefully Friday, July 25, 2014 at Salem Village with her caregiver and son by her side. Known as Kay to friends and family, she was kind and generous with a sense of humor and warm smile. A lifelong Joliet resident, graduated from St. Joseph Grade School and Joliet Township High School. Retired from Pioneer Title Co. Preceded in death by her husband, Joseph in 1971; parents, George and Anna (Sandor) Klenovich; the aunt and uncle who raised her, Jacob and Mary (Sandor) Kapelle; brothers George, Frank, Joseph, Sam and Steve; and sisters Mary Bloomquist, Fran Bartenope and Anne Klenovich. Survived by one son, Edward; two sisters, Rose Mandell of Northbrook, IL, and Helen Markert of Grandville, MI; and several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Judy and her team of caregivers who enhanced Kay’s quality of life during her final years, the staff at Salem Village, and Transitions Hospice. Funeral Services for Catherine A. Michael James Garcia “Cheekobrix”, age 18, of Joliet, IL and Dallas, TX, passed away on July 23, 2014. Loving son of Jeanna (Faisal Khan) Pacheco and Richard (Lisa) Horwath. Dear brother of Brian Salinas, Jacob (Jessica) Ridge, Julianne Harris, Anthony Garcia, Jr., Melissa Garcia and Tara (Frank) Schumacher. Dear grandson of Alice M. Bittle. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Preceded in death by his grandparents, Sandra and Robert Pacheco Sr. and Richard Cunningham. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to his mother, Jeanna Pacheco. He was an aspiring musician and his music was his passion. He will be greatly missed by many and was loved by all who knew him.
