Raymond E. Vargo, age 82, at rest on Sunday, June 22, 2014. Raymond is survived by his lifelong companion, Jean Harvey; children, Roxanne (William) Cerney and Renee Schouten; step-children, Bernadette (Ronald) Norton, Sarah (Dustin) Hill, Jeannie McPherson, Frederick Harvey and Theresa Harvey; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary (the late Donald) Kesich and Irene (the late Chris) Nielsen; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary (nee Dolinsky) Vargo; three brothers, Benjamin Vargo, George (Julia) Vargo and John (Lenora) Vargo; two sisters, Anne (Lou) Zbanick and Mary (Donald) Kesich. Ray was born and raised in Joliet, IL and was a proud United States Army veteran serving in the Korean War. A celebration of Raymond’s life will begin on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 with a visitation at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet, IL from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service in the funeral home chapel at 12:00 p.m. Entombment to follow at Mt. Raymond J. Osterman Passed away at his home in Joliet, IL at the age of 85. Born January 13, 1929 in Chicago. He retired 24 years ago from ABC-TV to take care of his wife, Dolores, who died of cancer in 1991. Survived by his wife of 21 years, Virginia; son, Timothy; daughters, Laurel Ann (James) Kaiser and Sheryl (Steven) DeVore Bailley; Virginia’s five children; 15 grandchildren; sister, Viola (Carl) Strupeck; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews and dear friends. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 24, 2014 from 4-9 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. Friends and relatives will gather at St. Joseph Church, 416 N. Chicago Street, Joliet for a 10:00 Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.
Michael P. Duff Sr.
Michael P. Duff Sr., Age 67, entered eternal life on Sunday, June 22, 2014 with his loving family by his side. Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Ruth Ann; loving children, Michael (Jennifer) and Sarah (Jerome) Zupancic; cherished grandchildren, Micaela Duff, Benjamin and Charlotte Zupancic; dear sisters, Ann (Glen) Bequette and Kathy Duff; devoted friends, Chuck and Linda Scribner; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ann (nee Weisenberg) Duff; and his faithful companion, Gunner. Mike retired from CBI in 2013 where he was employed for 42 years. Mike was a passionate outdoorsman, fisherman, and hunter. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Family always came first. He will be greatly missed. A Celebration of Michael’s life will begin on Friday, June 27, 2014 with a visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service to begin at 10:00 a.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd, Joliet, IL 60435, Father Jim Lennon officiating. Adeline C. Rush (nee Fielder), age 99, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 21, 2014 surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. Adeline is survived by her children, Lindell (Barbara) Smith, Edith (Andrew) Pomykala, Marvin (Chris) Smith, Glen (the late Carolyn) Smith and Virginia (Fred) Thiel; 22 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, John P. Rush; two daughters in infancy, Martha Ann and Naomi Ruth; two grandsons, Kenneth Pomykala and David Smith; siblings, Neil Fielder, Dale Fielder, Hazel (Wade) Garrison and Ella Frances Fielder in infancy. Adeline was a resident of Oak Creek, CO for 30 years where she enjoyed every aspect of the outdoors. She loved hunting, fishing, hiking in the wilderness and camping. She was employed at Hamidy’s Hardware Store in Oak Creek, CO for many years. Adeline always carried a camera with her and loved capturing the perfect picture wherever she may have been. In 1993 Adeline moved into Joshua Arms Senior Residences in Joliet. The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff at Salem Village Nursing Home and Vitas Hospice for the wonderful care and comfort they provided Adeline and her family. A celebration of Adeline’s life will begin on Saturday, June 28, 2014 with a visitation at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manhattan from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment to follow at Guardian Angel Cemetery in Manhattan. passed away at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home, Saturday, June 21, 2014. Age 83 years. Survived by his sister Betty Krueger, a sister-in-law, brother-in-law and several nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and great-great niece. Preceded in death by his parents Edward and Elizabeth Dowd, four brothers and two sisters. Bill was born in Joliet, September 27, 1930. He graduated from Joliet Township High School Class of 1948. Member of Sacred Heart and St. Anthony Catholic Church. Bill retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier. Private family funeral services have been held.

Jana M. Swanson (nee Briick) Age 74. Passed away Monday, June 23, 2014 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center. Born in Joliet to the late Otto and Mae (nee Bolls) Briick on April 21, 1940, she was a lifelong resident. Beloved mother of Kimberly Swanson, John (Lori) Swanson, Douglas Swanson and Terri Swanson; proud and devoted grandmother of Zachary and Dane Colvin; Tyler, Trevor and Troy Swanson; Matthew, Nicholas and Erin Swanson; PO2 Jacob Struthers, U.S. Navy and Jessie Struthers. Also surviving are her sister, Gloria (Britt) Barr; brother, Robert (Marie) Briick and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by her parents and her dear aunt Myrtle Bolls. Jana was a member of the Red Hat Society. A creative woman, she enjoyed crocheting, cooking, baking and was a talented seamstress. The Joy of her life was to be a part of the lives of her 10 grandchildren, and they will all greatly miss her. Helen Marie Helis, age 78, at rest on Friday, June 27, 2014 at Presence Villa Franciscan Nursing Home. Helen is survived by her nephews, Anthony Knezevich, Steven Helis and Ronald Knezevich; nieces and nephews and numerous friends. Preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Johanna (nee Javorak) Helis; four brothers, Joseph, John, Steve and Lou Helis; and one sister Mary Pubentz. Helen was a lifelong resident of Joliet, IL. She was a parishioner of SS Cyril & Methodius Church and graduated from Providence High School. Helen was a devout Catholic all of her life and attended St. Bernard Catholic Church in Joliet daily. She retired from Illinois Bell after 38 years of service. Helen loved spending her days at the Harris Casino in Joliet and with her friends. The family would like to offer a special thank you to the nurses in the Venetian East Wing for the wonderful care provided to Helen and her dear friends, twin sisters, Fran Zeimetz and Josie DiBartolomeo who supported her through her chemo treatments. Joseph Robert Sipple Age 27, of Morris, passed away suddenly on Thursday, June 26, 2014 in Sheridan, IL. Born September 19, 1986 in Manchester, CT, he was the son of Daniel E. and Rebecca J. (nee Lussier) Sipple. He graduated from Coal City High School and served with the United States Army as an Infantryman. He was employed by Steve’s Lawn Care at the time of his passing. Joseph will be remembered as a devoted father who loved his boys. He also enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. Surviving are his parents of Morris; three sons, Joseph Michael Ryan “Joey” Sipple, Jacob Henry-Allen Male, and Jason Hunter-Brady Sipple; two sisters, Kimberly (Jared) Boorky of Avon, CT and Brenda (Patrick) Soreng of Channahon, IL; one brother, Nathan (Janine Rose) Sipple of San Diego, CA; four nieces and nephews; and his grandparents, Erlis Sipple of Albert Lea, MN and Robert and Millicent Lussier of Grand Island, FL. Adrianna F. Vidmar (nee Reato), Age 92, entered eternal life on Friday, June 27, 2014 at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home. Adrianna is survived by her loving children, Michael (Sandra) Vidmar, James (Cindy) Vidmar, and Karen (Michael) Colombo; cherished grandchildren James Vidmar, Christopher Vidmar, Lynnette Colombo, Daun Colombo, and Nicholas Vidmar; also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded in death by her husband, Albert “Gus” Vidmar; parents, James and Gertrude (neeTepatti) Reato; and brothers, John, Victor, and James Reato. Adrianna was very talented in ceramics and sewing. She made porcelain dolls and plastic butterflies, and sewed decorative holiday sweatshirts. She worked as a volunteer, knitting afghans and sewing pillows for patients at St. Joseph Hospital. Adrianna was a parishioner at St. Joseph Church in Joliet. She belonged to the Senior Parishioners, Altar and Rosary Society, KSKJ St. Francis De Sales Lodge #29, and Slovenian Union of America Branch #20. Prior to her residence at Our Lady of Angels she was a resident at the Timbers of Shorewood Retirement Community. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Adrianna’s name to the St. Joseph Church Restoration Fund. Steven P. Hucek, age 50, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 27, 2014. Steven is survived by his father, Wendell; three brothers, Kurt (Patty), Jeffrey (Karen), and Douglas (Beth) Hucek; eight nieces and nephews, Annie Allgood, Kurt (Jennifer) Hucek, Marc (Marissa) Hucek, Kristin (Michael) Tomasino, Justin and Brianne Hucek, Adam and Nolan Hucek; three great nieces and great nephews, Logan and Giana Allgood and Natalie Hucek; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; best friends, Tony Sinchak, Danny Mikuska and his Westminster Street friends. Preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Hucek and grandparents, George and Evelyn Smith. Steven was born and raised in Joliet, working many years in auto and beverage sales. He graduated from SS Cyril & Methodius grade school and Joliet Central High School. Over the years Steven loved to golf, travel and cheer on his Chicago White Sox. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He lovingly devoted much of his time and energy helping his parents over the years and will join his best friend, Mom, in Heaven. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Steven’s name to be used according to family wishes. Funeral services for Steven will begin on Thursday, July 3, 2014 with visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. at the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus.
