Kathryn I. Ludwig “Kay,” age 82, passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 29, 2014 with her loving family by her side. Kathryn is survived by her seven children, William (Judy) Anderson, Linda (Henry) Soto, Richard Anderson, Patricia (Allen) Frankovich, Mary Ann Anderson, Judy (Carlos) Fournier, and Diane (Randy) Patience; 16 loving grandchildren. Numerous, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive. Preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ludwig; her parents, Pansy and Forrest; Robert and Juanita; one brother and two sisters. Kathryn loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her friends. She enjoyed cooking and baking. Kathryn really enjoyed her job at Martin’s Campground in Joliet and was employed there for over 20 years. We have lost someone that we loved and cherished. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kathryn’s name to the American Heart Association would be appreciated. Thank you to the Martin Family for the years of support. A celebration of Kathryn’s life will begin on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 with a visitation at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service to be held at 11:30 a.m. Celebrant Ken Plese officiating. Sr. M. Andrea Prindes, OSF Sister M. Andrea Prindes, OSF (1922 – 2014) died at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home, Joliet, Illinois, on June 2, 2014. She is one of five children born to the late Hermina and Andrew Prindes of Chicago, Illinois. Her three brothers, John, Joseph and Anthony, are all deceased. She has one sister, Emily Blaha, who resides at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home. Sister Andrea was a treasured member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Mary Immaculate (Joliet) for 76 years. Sister Andrea was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Chicago, Illinois, and attended the Parish Grade School. She graduated from St. Francis Academy (now Joliet Catholic Academy) in Joliet, Illinois, and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of St. Francis (now University of St. Francis) also in Joliet, Illinois. She graduated with a Master of Education degree from DePaul University in Chicago. Sister Andrea entered the Sisters of St. Francis of Mary Immaculate in Joliet, Illinois, on September 8, 1938. After professing vows in 1941, she began a ministry in the field of education that encompassed fifty-four years. She ministered to children as a teacher and principal in elementary schools throughout Illinois, Florida, Ohio and Michigan. In 1970, she joined the Joliet Public School System as a teacher of English in special education classes. In 1982, she became the Coordinator of the Refugee Program for Joliet Township High School Education Program. As Coordinator and Teacher of this program for the Laotian Refugees, she enabled many immigrants to learn English and to obtain their citizenship in the United States. After leaving the classroom as a full-time teacher, Sister Andrea moved into Our Lady of Angels where she served as a volunteer in the Gift Shop. Her ministry during these later years at OLA has been one of Community Service, serving the Church through her ministry of prayerful presence. The wake for Sister Andrea will be at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home, 1201 Wyoming Avenue, Joliet, IL, (Wyoming and Rt. 30) on Thursday, June 5, 2014 from 2:00 – 6:45 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 4:45 p.m. and Mass of Christian Burial at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Procession will leave from Our Lady of Angels on Friday morning, June 6, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville, IL. Robert Kraker

Major Robert G. Kraker Major Robert Gilbert Kraker, USAF Retired, of Joliet, IL, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2014 at the Lakewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Plainfield, IL at the age of 95. Born March 13, 1919 in Joliet, IL to the late Otto and Lena Kraker. Bob had one older brother, Willard, who preceded him in death. Married to Harriet Olive Stundahl January, 26, 1946, who met while both serving their country during WWII, he as a pilot and she as a U.S. Army Air Corp nurse. Harriet preceded him in death in 1981. Together they had six children. Growing up and educated in Joliet Public Schools, Bob joined the Unted States Army Air Forces in March of 1942. He received training in the B-24 (8 missions), B-17 (22 missions) and Crew Training (Lead Crew) with the 487th Bomb Group, 839 Squadron, receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross among his medals and awards. This was a pivotal time in his life as he faced dangers with unknown outcomes and met wonderful people from all over the United States with the same mission of serving their country. After the war, Bob continued his service with the United States Air Force, working for the Auditor General until he retired in December of 1964. After living in Europe and throughout the United States, Bob and Harriet decided to settle down in Joliet, IL. Here, Bob worked for the E. J. &. E. Railway in the accounting department until his retirement. Bob lead a life of service, whether it was at St. Peter Lutheran Church, his children’s school organizations, Lions Club, Christian Youth Center or with family members. More so than those planned activities, it was his willingness to stop and help someone in immediate need that impressed (and sometimes aggravated his waiting/impatient children) and impacted us most. He was that guy who would stop to help a person change a tire or that you could call to help get a snake out of the kitchen in the middle of the night! He is survived by his children, Robert (Kathee Podobnik) Kraker, Karen (Bob) Urso, Kerry (Kris Keslar) Kraker, Mary Kraker, Rachel (Dean) Hudson and Stephanie Kraker-Garris; 11 grandchildren, Brian and Elizabeth Kraker, Charissa (Brian Odell), Rob (Michelle Bateman), Richard (Stephanie Shannon) Kraker, Harriet and Katelyn Garris, R. Blake, D. Tanner (Jennifer Phillips), L. Deaven and H. Kent Hudson; four great-grandchildren, Jack and Anne Odell, Brooklyn Kraker and Olive Elloise Hudson. Funeral Services for Robert G. Kraker will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 310 N. Broadway, Joliet, IL. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery with full military honors. Ten grandchildren Scott, Kevin (Chante Yearby), Jason (Jenny) and Anthony (Kim) Hera, Heidi (Ronnie) Hera Cummings, Joscelyne, Brandon and Creighton (Lindsay Evans) Dracca, Paul Russum and Melanie (Carlos) Vazquez. Two great-grandchildren Tristan and Caleb Hera. Two cousins Richard (Karolyn) Scott and Adelia Bales. Preceded in death by her husband Raymond L. Dracca (1985),her parents Daniel and Mary Scott. Margaret was born December 17, 1922 in Witt, IL. She graduated from Joliet Township High School Class of 1941 and graduated from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1944. Margaret is a veteran of W.W. II serving in the U.S. Army as a nurse. She retired from St. Joseph Medical Center in 1985. Member of First Presbyterian Church. Private funeral services were held with interment at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Survived by her daughter Cheryl (Stephen) Schafer of Joliet and her son John (Debra) Blasdel of Plainfield. Five grandchildren Michael (Megan) Grohar, Valerie Grohar, Christine and Renee Blasdel and John Grohar. Three great-granddaughters Paige, Alaina and Sawyer Grohar. Her sister Lorraine (Robert) Popovich. Also numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her father William Egan, her mother Lyola Hill (nee Fox) and her step-father Charles Hill. Two sisters Mary (Erling) Sandell and Marilyn (Wayne) Grossklaus. Two brothers William (Diane) Egan and Richard Hill Agnes retired from St. Joseph Hospital in 1998 after 33 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a volunteer at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home, where she called bingo and painted the nails of the residents. Gigi adored her three beautiful great-granddaughters. Lying in state at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home, 1201 Wyoming Ave., Monday, June 2 from 10:00 A.M. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. Two daughters Amy (Chris Goodrow) Evans and Jill (Jeff) Walter. Five grandchildren Holly Krieger, Alex Walter, Shannon Barkley, Danny Walter and Ty Krieger. Two sisters Joeann (Teddy-deceased) Marko and Joyce (L. David) Bronstein. Also several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents Charles and Rosemary Miller. Michele was a graduate of St. Francis Academy Class of 1963. She was a Customer Assistance Office for Home Saving and Loans and also General Manager for Delta Drum Company. Michele was a volunteer with Shorewood PTO, Joliet PTA, American Legion Post #1080 and Joliet West Band Boosters. She was also a avid sports enthusiast and NASCAR fan. Richard A. George, Age 67, at rest on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 with his loving family by his side. Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Mary Kay George (nee Zdralevich); loving son Ryan George; loving step-children, Rebecca (Kenneth) Velasquez and Matthew (Barbara) Aharrah; cherished grandchildren, Logan, Melissa, Hayley, Jacob, Cameron, and Madison; and nephew, Robert George. Preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Agnes (nee Anderson) George; and brother, Robert George. Richard retired from Stateville in 1999 where he worked as a correctional officer for over 30 years. He loved cars, motorcycles, and horseback riding. Richard was devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A celebration of Richard’s life will begin on Friday, June 6, 2014 with a visitation from 4:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Mildred Elizabeth “Mili” Williamson (nee Johnson) Age 89, of Morris, IL., passed away peacefully, Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Park Pointe Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Born June 9, 1924 to Thure and Elizabeth (nee Larson) Johnson in Grand Rapids, MI where she was raised until she and her family moved to Illinois in the mid 1930′s settling in Kankakee. Mildred graduated from Augustana College in Chicago receiving her RN certificate which led to a rewarding career in healthcare. She was a truly compassionate nurse who put as much emphasis in the human spirit as she did with medicine. She was preceded in death by her husband, Burwell “Jack” Williamson (1995); one son, Kirk Allen Williamson (1977), and her parents. Survived by her son, Roger K. (Alice) Williamson of Irvine, CA; daughter, Laura K. (John ) Lovell of Morris, IL; grandchildren, Nicole (Steve) Babyak of Irvine, CA, Todd (Jessica) Williamson of Seattle, WA, Tyleen Harper of Morris and Weston (Kristen) Harper of Shorewood, IL; proud great-grandmother of Chloe, Kayla and Elizabeth Babyak, Kai, Merrik, Teagan and Nash Williamson, Sophia and Makenna Harper; and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Mildred enjoyed life to the fullest. An accomplished needlepoint artist and excellent bridge player, she always looked forward to the annual costume party through the bridge society, where her “creativity” in costume design was definitely evident. Dean Michael Fredericks “Dean-O” Age 20, of Morris, IL, died tragically, Tuesday, June 3, 2014. Born July 14, 1993 at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Chicago to Elizabeth (Gardner) and Michael Fredericks, he resided in the Hickory Hills/Palos area until moving to Morris with his family at the age of 5. Dean attended ICS, then White Oak Grade School and graduated with the class of 2012 from Morris Community High School. Precious and adored son of Mike and Elizabeth; loving brother of Samantha “Sami” Fredericks. Dear grandson of Sharon Gardner, the late Thomas Gardner; Patricia Baetzel and the late Joseph Baetzel; Susan Partin and the late Dale Walker. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins including Amanda, Aidan, Avery and Abby. He will also be missed by many close friends and his best friend “Buddy”. Dean-o had a heart of gold and would befriend anyone. He will be remembered for his quick wit, charismatic personality and love of fishing. Donna L. Mitchell (nee Williams) Age 68, of Plainfield, IL, and formerly Crown Point, IN, passed away Monday June 2, 2014. She was born December 27, 1945 in Chicago to Geraldine (Bloss) and the late Richard Zorn and was raised in Park Ridge, IL. Beloved mother of Pearson Williams III and Karl Williams; proud grandmother of Stephany Williams; Kendall and Keagan Williams. She is also surived by her loving mother, Geraldine Zorn; two brothers, Mark (Tammy) Zorn and Richard (Yoshie) Zorn as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Donna led an active life; she was a board member of Pheasant Landing Homeowners Association and a member of the Women’s Fire Auxiliary of the Lakes of Four Seasons in Crown Point. Survived by her beloved son, Terrence and daughter-in-law, JoAnn (nee Mikan) Murphy; two precious granddaughters, Shannon (Joseph) Steg and Kelly (Todd) Stengel; great-grandchildren, Brendon Steg, Mason Steg, Victoria Steg, Bailey Stengel and Rowan Stengel; one brother, Eugene (Kaye) Wedic of Mesa, AZ; one sister-in-law, Irene (William) Roth of Joliet; aunt and great-aunt to many nieces and nephews; and many close friends. Preceded in death by her devoted and caring husband, Vernon (1987); parents, Frank and Antoinette “Nettie” Wedic and brother, Leonard (Madeline) Wedic; sister-in-law, Arlene (Charles) Repenn; and brother-in-law, Russell (Wilma) Murphy. Born in Joliet, she was a lifelong area resident. A long standing member of the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus, she was active in the CCW, the Medical Mission, and the Cathedral Club, serving on the board and a volunteer for Parish Services. She was a member of the Sisters of St. Francis “520″ Club and a past member of the Church of St. Jude. Throughout her lifetime she served on numerous boards, chairmanships and committees. She will be long remembered by her family, and her friends and neighbors for her kindness and generosity. She was the secretary to the Principal of Joliet Catholic High School for ten years, transferring to the Catholic Schools Office as secretary to the Superintendent, Fr. Niles Gillen, before retiring in 1987. Cindy A. Engler (nee Caldwell) Age 45. Passed away Friday, June 6, 2014 unexpectedly in her sleep, due to an unforeseen ruptured blood vessel. Born in Harvey, IL, she was a Channahon resident for the past 11 years. A graduate of the University of St. Francis with a Bachelors Degree in Health Arts. Employed by Dr. Rudy Paolucci, D.D.S. as a dental hygienist with over 20 years of service. Owner and operator of S.A. Barnes Company. Cindy was a beautiful person and a humanitarian. Whenever anyone needed help, she was always there to lend a hand. Preceded in death by her father, Donald Eugene Caldwell (1993). Survived by her loving and devoted husband of 20 years, Timothy R. Engler; one daughter, Madison “Maddy” Engler and one son, Mason Engler all of Channahon; her mother, Pam Caldwell of Morris; her grandmother, Evelyn Garofalo of Plainfield; two sisters, Kathy (Tom) Wolfe of Minooka and Sarah (Kurt) Wepprecht of Plainfield; one niece, Nicole Giffin; one nephew, T.J. (Delanie) Giffin; and two great-nephews, Ryker and Braxton also survive. Funeral Services for Cindy A. Engler will be Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 8:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds, Joliet. As it was Cindy’s wish, Cremation Rites will be accorded following her funeral services. Frederick J. Malsky Jr. “Pa” “Fritz,” age 62, at rest on Saturday, June 7, 2014 with his loving family by his side. Frederick is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Rita (nee Fazio) Malsky; loving children, Fred “Fritz” Malsky III, Jason (Amanda) Malsky and Dawn Kenneda; grandchildren, Karissa and Morgan; brother-in-law, Bob (the late Judy) Doszak; and numerous friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Nina (nee Meyer) Malsky. Fritz was born and raised in Joliet and attended Joliet Catholic High School. He was a member of the Teamsters Local #179 and retired from Waste Management after 38 years of service. Fritz was a proud Officer and member of the South Side Civic Club and a member of the Dale A.C. He loved spending time with his family and friends at the South Side Civic Club and Lallos Bar and Grill in Channahon. He was a diehard Chicago White Sox and Chicago Blackhawks fan. Fritz was a loving husband and father and a cherished friend who will be truly missed by all who knew him. A celebration of Frederick’s life will begin on Thursday, June 12, 2014 with a visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of service to be held at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Celebrant Ken Plese officiating. Interment to follow at Elmhurst Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet, IL from 4-8 p.m.
